X-Men: Days of Future Past is expected to soar to a HUGE opening weekend at the box office, with early estimates indicating it could hit $115 million for the four-day holiday period.

The star-studded mutant extravaganza should easily outpace Godzilla ($41 million) and the new Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore romantic comedy Blended ($17 million).

Neighbors should earn roughly $16 million for fourth place.

The #5 spot will likely go to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 at roughly $11 million, slightly ahead of Million Dollar Arm at $10 million.

The Other Woman ($5 million) and Rio 2 ($3 million) should finish seventh and eighth, with Heaven Is For Real and Chef battling at about $2.5 million apiece

The latest trailer for “X-Men: Days of Future Past” was released. The trailer is for the Japanese audience and it focuses on the action scenes-notably Jennifer Lawrence’s character Mystique.
The trailers for the international audience are obviously different from the American editions. The focus is on the actors that have global popularity. The action sequences feature the scenes at the Capitol as well as those which show the mutant’s powers. It is noticeable that the scenes that feature Jennifer Lawrence (as Mystique) has greatly increased. Lawrence’s popularity has increased exponentially since she won her Academy Award for Best Actress.
In an interview with EW, Producer Lauren Shuler-Donner talked about candidates for a solo spin-off movie, including Mystique: “There was a regime [at the studio] that didn’t see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we’re going to do right by it. I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a lot of really great characters.”
On special mention of course, “I feel like because [Lawrence] is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much opportunity if you were to follow her solo.”
Fox would do well to maximize the presence of Lawrence in their franchise. She is already the star of another franchise, “The Hunger Games” which already has two blockbusters under its belt.
Acting on Shuler-Donner’s cue, EW.com has conducted a survey among their readers on which character they would like to see in a solo flick. The results: “Deadpool (24%), then Gambit (21%), X-Force (19%), Storm (17%), Mystique (11%), and lastly Magneto (8%).”
Mystique may be low at this time, but she has a rich backstory to be explored, especially with her back-and-forth between being a hero and a villain (similar to Black Widow at Marvel). She may not have spectacular powers like Storm, but her colorful past which links to Rogue, Nightcrawler, Mister Sinister, Professor X and Magneto can be intriguing. Of course, most viewers would also want to see Jennifer Lawrence without the blue body paint.

A new TV spot for “X-Men: Days of Future Past” has been unveiled, and it gives us a new look at both Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Helmen – right before the latter gets pounced on, that is.

The Bryan Singer-directed “X-Men: Days of Future Past” follows Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) who, as seen in the post-credits scene of James Mangold’s “The Wolverine,” is recruited by Magneto (Ian McKellan) and a revived Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) on a final mission to prevent a Sentinel-dominated future where both mutants and humans are endangered. In order to accomplish this, his consciousness is sent back in time to his body in the ’70s, where he must reunite the younger versions of the X-Men, hence the return of Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, and Lucas Till from Matthew Vaughn‘s “X-Men: First Class.”

The new TV spot is mostly the same footage we’ve already seen from the third trailer, but if you stick around until after the X-Men logo pops up, you’ll see some new footage of Mystique confronting Helmen, who makes his debut as a younger William Stryker (previously played by Brian Cox in “X-Men 2: X-Men United” and by Danny Huston in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”). We first see Mystique as she is teasing someone off screen, before it quickly cuts to another shot of a military man (who is presumably Stryker) getting his face acquainted with her foot.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is slated for a May 23 release date. Check out the new TV spot below!

20th Century Fox have expressed an interest in exploring The Hunger Games actress’s character outside the “crowded ensemble”, says X-Men writer and producer

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to hit screens on May 23 but the franchise’s producers are already looking beyond it…

According to producer Lauren Shuler Donner, the future lies in spin-offs. While Marvel Studios have peddled plenty of standalone movies starring Captain America, Thor and Iron Man, Fox, who make the X-Men movies, have so far limited theirs to  the Wolverine films, starring Hugh Jackman.

“There was a regime [at the studio] that didn’t see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we’re going to do right by it,” explains Donner who has produced all the X-Men films. “I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a lot of really great characters.”

But also on Donner’s radar is Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique who plays a key role in Days of Future Past’s plot. And according to X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg, it’s Mystiquewho presents exciting opportunities for a standalone feature.

“I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her,” he said, “and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo.”

Keep your eyes peeled, folks. And in the meantime there’s plenty of big-screen Marvel comics action to get excited about in the coming years, with a further mutant film, X-Men: Apocalypse due for release on 27 May 2016 and another Wolverine flick scheduled for 3 March 2017.
