Jennifer Lawrence is in early talks to star in Sony’s space drama “Passengers,” with “The Imitation Game” director Morten Tyldum to helm.

Jon Spaihts, writer of “Doctor Strange,” is penning the script. Sony bought rights to “Passengers” in December.

“Passengers” is set on a spacecraft in the future, with thousands of passengers making an interstellar voyage to a distant new planet. One passenger awakens from cryogenic sleep 90 years before anyone else and decides to wake up a female passenger, sparking the beginning of a love story.

Neal Moritz and Ori Marmur will produce through Moritz’s Original Film banner along with Michael Maher for Start Media and Stephen Hamel of Company Films.

The project has a long development history: Focus was in talks to acquire U.S. rights with Keanu Reeves attached earlier in 2014; the Weinstein Co. ditched the project earlier after acquiring the rights. Both Reese Witherspoon and Rachel McAdams were at one point attached to the project.

Tyldum has been nominated for an Oscar and a DGA award for “The Imitation Game.”

Lawrence is repped by CAA and was last seen in “Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1,” which was the highest-grossing movie of 2014. She will appear in “Mockingjay — Part 2″ later this year and in “X-Men: Apocalypse” in 2016.

Based off mainstream media coverage of the Ebola outbreak this year, you might assume that now that there are no active cases in America, it’s no longer a problem. But in West Africa, the outbreak continues, killing thousands. Many of those deaths are preventable, which is why Jennifer Lawrence and her Hunger Games co-stars have reunited to get the word out.

The stars of The Hunger Games franchise have released a PSA alongside the Ebola Survival Fund to remind people that, while Ebola is not currently a threat in the U.S., it remains a very serious one in West Africa, where more than 19,000 people have fallen sick in the past year alone.

“The countries hit hardest are Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone,” Lawrence says in the short clip. Her co-stars, including Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, go on to remind us that, while every person stricken with Ebola in America survived, in parts of Africa the survival rate is only 20 percent.

“In Liberia, they had 50 doctors for 4.4 million people,” Hutcherson notes.

More than that, the nations hit hardest by this outbreak simply do not have enough resources to keep all their citizens healthy. Things like food, water, and medication can mean the difference between life and death for a person infected with Ebola.

“Ebola is not a death sentence,” Julianne Moore adds, just before Hutcherson asks Lawrence what would happen if she contracted Ebola. “I’d be fine,” the actress says, after a dramatic pause. “You have a lot of doctors,” Hutcherson retorts to the seemingly perpetually -sick Lawrence.

Every time it looks like Jennifer Lawrence can’t get any bigger, she manages to find a way to defy expectations. Only 24, Lawrence already has an Oscar. She recently scored her first Billboard chart hit with “Hanging Tree,” and now she closes out 2014 as the highest-grossing actor in Hollywood. Between Mockingjay and X-Men: Days of Future Past, Lawrence’s movies have grossed $1.4 billion at the box office worldwide this year. (That number will climb even higher since Mockingjay is still in theaters.)

Next year, the last installment of The Hunger Games series hits theaters. For many actors, this would be a difficult career moment. When actors like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson reached the end of the franchises that made them stars, they had to prove to Hollywood that they were more than just lucky beneficiaries of can’t-miss roles. Lawrence won’t have that problem thanks to her strong performances in movies like X-Men, American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook. Her first post-Hunger Games movie will reunite her with American Hustle director David O. Russell. Joy, about a Long Island single mother who becomes a successful entrepreneur, is based on a true story.
